Zcash activated its NU7 network upgrade at block height 3,543,405 on 6 November 2026, reducing the target interval between blocks from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, according to CoinDesk’s report.
The change is designed to make transaction confirmations faster. NU7 also introduces a Network Sustainability Mechanism that directs 60% of transaction fees into a public reserve, with the remaining 40% going to miners, as described in reporting by The Block.
Node operators needed compatible software before activation to remain on the upgraded network. The changes are a protocol-level development; actual payment processing times can still vary because exchanges, wallets and merchants set their own confirmation requirements.
