Netflix has announced a new live-action series in the Stranger Things universe titled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure. The prequel is set in the 1950s and is scheduled to arrive in 2028, according to the streaming service’s announcement on 6 November 2026.

The series is being developed by Stranger Things writers and creators Matt and Ross Duffer and Kate Trefry. Netflix says Trefry will serve as showrunner and co-creator, while filmmaker Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes. Production is planned in New Mexico.

The story takes place decades before the events of the original series and introduces a new setting and characters. Netflix has not yet announced a full cast or a specific release date. The project expands the franchise beyond its original television run and existing stage and animated spin-offs.
